About Us

A Vital Queensland Rescue Service
From the town of 1770 to Redcliffe and from Fraser Island to Kingaroy, the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter serves 700,000 people across a 100,000 square kilometre region. We are the oldest community helicopter rescue service in Queensland, helping the sick and injured since 1979. Our rescue teams are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and can fly direct to anywhere within our primary operational area within an hour. We can land at the scene and transport patients to the helipad of the nearest major hospital or specialist unit in a fraction of the time taken by road ambulance.

Community owned
The rescue helicopter is owned and operated on behalf of the community by Sunshine Coast Helicopter Rescue Service, a not for profit organisation with bases at Bundaberg and the Sunshine Coast Airport. The continued support and generosity over the years of the Queensland State Government, our sponsors, local media, businesses and individuals within our community has ensured our ability to continue our lifesaving work. Part of a great team
As you'd imagine we don't work in isolation. Our rescue crews and medical teams work alongside a whole host of other emergency services. Our principle partners in the chain of care are the Queensland Ambulance Service, Police, Fire and Rescue Services,Queensland Health, the Queensland State Emergency Service (SES), the Australian Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC), Australian Volunteer Coastguard, Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) and Volunteeer Marine Rescue Queensland.
