Help us celebrate the start of the whale watch season and a whole month of festivities in honour of the Humpback Whale. Whale Watch Operators join with local businesses dockside at the Urangan Harbour to host an evening of arts, water activities, markets and music culminating in a fireworks spectacular. You can tour whale watch vessels, talk with the crew and learn about the majestic Humpback Whale. 

The highlight of the evening is the traditional sail past and blessing of the fleet, a centuries old tradition from the Mediterranean, blessing the vessels of the whale watch fleet to ensure the safe passage of the vessel, its crew and in our case visitors and the whales they come to see.

3.30pm onwards - Workshops, activities, music and markets commence.
3.45pm - AGL Rescue Helicopter fly over.
3.50pm - Outrigger short course races.
5.00pm onwards - Make the most of the twilight and book a table at one of the Marina's dockside restaurants and cafes.
5.30pm - Opening of the 2012 Whale Season
5.35pm – Blessing of the Fleet
6.00pm - Meet the Fleet - Whale Watch Vessels open** for inspection.
7.15pm - Fireworks spectacular!
7.30pm – Stay on for an evening of musical entertainment

**Due to commercial activity not all Whale Watch vessels will be open for inspection on the evening.

Parking

Parking is available in three areas:
1.   The car park in front of Whale Bay Marina on Buccaneer Drive.
2.   The car park in front of the Great Sandy Straits Marina off Buccaneer Drive – please note this car park is open from 2.30pm to 8.00pm sharp ONLY.

Disability access is available as per normal Marina operations.
