Alexandria Bay: beach accident

Posted on 13-Dec-2011

A TRAINING exercise being held for the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter crew off Mudjimba  proved timely when the chopper was needed for a rescue at Alexandria Bay.

A 21-year-old man was airlifted to hospital with suspected spinal injuries after he jumped from a cliff into the water 20 metres below.

The Peregian man was surfing with friends at Alexandria Bay when the accident happened.

The rescue helicopter landed on the beach, where the man was treated before being transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
