Fraser Island: Snake Bite

Posted on 29-Nov-2011

"We were just getting ready to fly the gentleman injured in the sand boarding accident at Waddy Point , when a second emergency call came through," said Flight Paramedic Mick Webster. "Just down at Kingfisher Bay Resort a woman had been bitten by a brown coloured snake on the back of her left heel. We confirmed we would attend and landed at the Resort helipad. Dr Burman stayed on board to keep an eye on the first patient while I made my way to the woman's location. Her condition was stable but needed to be monitored so we got her on board as well and flew both patients to Hervey Bay Hospital".  Rescue Pilot Andrew Caton said "It was a long night, but getting one job after another is not uncommon for us".
