Mt Coolum: man injured in scooter accident

Posted on 24-Jan-2012

The AGL Action Rescue Helicopter has airlifted a 25 year old man to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a critical condition.

The man suffered severe head injuries and a badly fractured leg when the motorised scooter he was riding collided with a van at the corner of Jarnahill Drive and Power Court in Mount Coolum.

The helicopter's flight doctor and intensive care flight paramedic treated the man at the scene before he was transported by ambulance to the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter.

The man required further treatment at the hangar before he could be stabilised and loaded on to the helicopter.

He was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

The man was wearing a helmet.  The police crash investigation unit also attended the scene.
