Mt Perry Gold Mine: man injured in truck tyre explosion

Posted on 15-Jan-2012

A gold miner has been airlifted to hospital by the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter after a truck tyre exploded.

The 26 year old was working the night shift at the Mt Perry Gold Mine when the accident occurred.

The tyre burst at the bottom, spraying the man from the legs up in gravel.

The helicopter's flight paramedic treated the Bundaberg local for small abrasions and lacerations to his legs, torso, arms and face.

"He was wearing safety glasses which was pretty lucky for him," Aircrewman Brent Malden said.

The man was airlifted to Bundaberg Base Hospital in a stable condition.
