Turkey Beach: teenager injured by horse

A young woman airlifted by the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter yesterday after a horse dragged her along a bitumen road remained in a stable condition in hospital (Sunday)

The 17 year old was about to mount the horse when it took off, the woman's foot was caught in the stirrup.

She was dragged about 15 metres before her foot came loose.  She was driven home and her family phoned for help.

The AGL Action Rescue Helicopter flew to Turkey Beach where the helicopter's flight paramedic treated the woman for minor abrasions and a lower back injury.

She was airlifted to the Bundaberg Base Hospital.
