Meet the Team

Our Chain of Care

It takes a big team to run the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter fleet from our bases in Bundaberg and Maroochydore. We keep administration costs to a minimum - at around 12% of our operating costs, ensuring our funding goes directly toward providing effective emergency rescue and medical care. From our volunteers to the Board, we are focused on making our community safer.

Our Crews

The crew are on standby, ready to deploy 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.  The flight team and onboard specialist medical teams operate in some challenging climatic conditions, usually under enormous pressure.  Each mission has a pilot, crewman, intensive care paramedic and critical care doctor on board.  The Pilot flies the aircraft, the Crewman is responsible for the operation of the rescue equipment and management of others on board, the Flight Paramedics provide life saving intervention to patients suffering severe trauma and care for critical patients transferring between hospitals; the Critical Care Doctors are specialists in emergency medicine and anaesthetics - playing a vital role in the chain of care.

Maintenance and Operations

The maintenance team are the backbone of our operation, managing and carrying out the extensive repairs and safety inspections required through out the year.  Servicing and repairs for both the Bundaberg and Maroochydore fleet are conducted from our hangar at the Sunshine Coast Airport.   From time to time we conduct Hangar Tours, giving the community a chance to see their donations at work. CLICK HERE for further information.

Minor inspections are carried out for every 50 hours of flight time, taking half a day to complete. A medium inspection is required every 150 hours of flight time, taking 2-3 days.  300 hours flight time inspections require 1-2 weeks, 600 hours 2-3 weeks and 1200 hours 5-7 weeks. The major 1800 hour inspection takes up to 10 weeks and costs in the region of $300,000.   Our  fundraising program is designed to ensure we can continue to provide safe and reliable aircraft which exceed community expectations.
