Who We Are

A vital Queensland rescue service

AGL Action Rescue Helicopter, owned and operated by Sunshine Coast Helicopter Rescue Service Ltd is a not for profit organisation incorporated since 1979. Our goal is to assist sick and injured people from the Town of 1770 in the north, to Redcliffe in the south and from Fraser Island to west of Kingaroy. Our rescue teams and support staff provide a vital aero-medical and rescue service for the community of south east Queensland. The continued support and generosity over the years of the Queensland State Government, our sponsors, local media, businesses and individuals within our community has ensured our ability to continue our lifesaving work.

Community owned

For over 30 years our rescue teams have responded swiftly to calls for our assistance. Our helicopters can be airborne within minutes and deliver a highly skilled team to the scene of an accident or medical emergency. We are a not for profit charity organisation, proudly staffed by:

  • Pilots
  • Aircrew
  • Flight Intensive Care Paramedics
  • Critical Care Doctors
  • Other management and support staff, and
  • Volunteers (crew and administrative)

Our rescue teams are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and can fly direct to all areas within our primary operational area within an hour. The advantage of the helicopter is we can land at the scene and transport patients to the helipad of the nearest major hospital or specialist unit in a fraction of the time taken by road ambulance.

Part of a great team

We work with the Queensland Ambulance, Police, Fire and Rescue Services, Queensland Health, Australian Search and Rescue, and other emergency services to save lives.
