Who We Help

From Gladstone to Tweed heads, Fraser Island to Kingaroy in the burnett, every year we help rescue hundreds of people who need our life-saving support.

More than 700,000 residents live within the 100,000 square kilometre region of Queensland serviced by our AGL Action Rescue Helicopters based at the Sunshine Coast and Bundaberg Airports.

People need the support of our Service for:

Primary Emergency Medical Response
The Queensland Emergency Medical System Co-ordination Centre (QEMS) places an emergency call through to our base requesting deployment of one of our fleet to provide medical care direct to the scene of the incident or illness.  The majority of cases require the airlifting of seriously injured or ill patients to metropoloitan hospitals for specialist care.

Inter-Hospital Transfers
This involvesa request from QEMS to transfer a patient from a regional hospital or medical facility to a major hospital, usually as a result of the patient requiring more advanced specialist care. A number of these transfers involve collecting a specialist neo-natal team to transfer new born babies experiencing difficulties.

Search and Rescue
This involves a request from the Maritime Safety Authority or the Queensland Police Service to conduct aerial search missions for people missing at sea or on land and transporting them safely, or if injured, to appropriate medical care.

Counter Disaster
This involves our service responding to requests to assist the community during natural disasters, such as floods, fires and similar significant events.
